

Newbury, Ohio – Janice Marie (Minor) Marx, age 72, died on Monday, December 8, 2025, following complications to an existing illness. She was born on May 31, 1953, on the Naval Base of North Kingstown, Rhode Island. She was the daughter of Carol Laverne (Hull) and Wesley Nelson Minor. Janice was a 1971 graduate of Kenston High School located in Bainbridge, Ohio. On March 21, 1980 she married George H. Marx. Together they owned and operated Marsal Upholstery, where Janice was an expert seamstress, making cushions and reupholstering furniture. She enjoyed flower and vegetable gardening and was involved in many community activities over the years. She loved playing softball and volleyball for many years while participating in the Newbury Rec Board Activities and did numerous fund-raising events. She was also a member of the Newbury Kiwanis Club (Key/Builders Club) and contributed to a lot of their fundraising endeavors that helped many families in the local area. She is preceded in death by her parents; her sister Carol Jean (Minor) and her husband Gary Kraynak; and two brothers, James, and Kenneth Minor. Survivors include her husband George of 45 years, two sons, Jeremy J. Marx (Jenn Austin) of Newbury, Ohio; James R. Marx (Lindsay Marx) of Columbus, Ohio and their two sons (grandsons), Samuel and Zachary; and sister Vicky Zbozien (Mike Zbozien) of Newbury, Ohio. A private burial will be held in Newbury Center Cemetery. A celebration of life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family is asking for donations to their own local Kiwanis Clubs.
