Jean C. Rackus

Jean C. Rackus (July 24, 1942-October 27, 2015) passed away peacefully in her Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio, home.Jean was born and raised in South Euclid, Ohio. A graduate of Regina High School, she received her undergraduate degree from Rosary College in Chicago and her masters from Case Western Reserve University. Jean worked tirelessly as an educator and guidance counselor until her retirement. She was born to the late William and Veronica Rackus.Jean will be forever remembered and missed greatly by her brother, William and his wife Janet. She was a loving and devoted aunt to her nieces, Jessica, Jaclyn (Michael Samano), Melissa (Matthew Skrajner) and Mallory; and a great-aunt to Andrew Samano. Jean leaves behind a wide circle of close friends, former students, and family members that are blessed to have known her.Jean imparted her love of the arts, Amish Country and literature to her nieces and many friends. She touched many lives over the years while volunteering at Stewart's Caring Place, PAWSibilities of Greater Akron, and as an ESL tutor.The family requests that, in lieu of flowers, donations be made to PAWSibilities, the Humane Society of Greater Akron (7996 Darrow Road, Twinsburg, OH 44084) or Stewart's Caring Place (2955 West Market Street, Suite R, Akron, OH 44333).The family will greet guests at Gattozzi and Son Funeral Home, 12524 Chillicothe Rd., Chesterland, OH 44026 between 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, October 31, 2015, followed by funeral mass at 11 a.m. at St. Anselm Catholic Church, 12969 Chillicothe Rd., Chesterland, OH 44026.
