

Joseph R. Goletz, 74, of Kirtland, died July 13, 2010, at Chardon Healthcare Center in Chardon. Born Aug. 30, 1935, in German Township, Pa., he had lived in Kirtland for the past 40 years. Joseph was a U.S. Army veteran and a member of the V.F.W. Post 6519 in Chardon and the American Legion Post 214 in Willoughby. He was a parishioner of the Church of Saint Anselm in Chester Township and was active with the Kirtland Senior Center, including playing Bocci. Joseph was an avid Pittsburgh Steelers fan, and enjoyed working on automobiles. Mr. Goeltz had worked at Caterpillar, formerly Towmotor, in Cleveland. Joseph began as a laborer, was later promoted to foreman and eventually became head of the human resources department at the Mentor Caterpillar office. Survivors are his son, Joe (Amy); daughter, Terri (Jay Rothstein) Goletz; grandchildren, Melanie, Tanner, Tressa and Nicholas Goletz, Ava Goletz and Tyler Rothstein; and brothers, George (Cindy) and Bernie. He was preceded in death by his wife, Joan (Hrebar); sisters, Irene Szalankiewicz and Roseann Leverette; and brothers, Tom and Jim. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Gattozzi and Son Funeral Home, 12524 Chillicothe Road, Chester Township. Funeral services will be held 10 a.m. Friday, July 16, 2010, at Church of Saint Anselm, 12969 Chillicothe Road, Chester Township. The Rev. John Blazek will officiate. Inurnment at a later date in All Souls Cemetery in Chardon Township.
