Patricia Lee Long

Roaming Shores, Ohio – Patricia Lee Long, age 82, passed away peacefully with her family by her side on Wednesday, January 14, 2026. She was born on November 5, 1943, in Bedford, Ohio, the daughter of Martha J. “Sally” (Wales) and Russell Lowell Horky. Pat was a 1961 graduate of Solon High School and graduated with a bachelor's degree in education from Bowling Green State University where she was a member of Kappa Delta sorority. She taught physical education and home economics at Warrensville Heights High School. On July 9, 1966, she married Gary Roger Long. Spending more than thirty years in Chesterland. Pat raised her small children and a few others from the neighborhood, from her home. She also worked at Patterson’s Fruit Farm. Pat spent many years working for Geauga County as a contact compliance officer with Community Development and then as the Executive Director of the Geauga County Metropolitan Housing Authority, where she built Murray Manor. She ended her working career as an administrator for Auto Guard and Control Master in Bedford Heights. For the past twenty-eight years, Pat has lived in Roaming Shores, where she served as a Director for the Rome Rock Association. She started and led water aerobics during the summer and organized monthly luncheons with her ladies lunch bunch. Pat was an avid flower gardener and boasted about how many different species of hosta plants she had. After the wonderful summer months, Pat enjoyed heading south to Florida and spent the winter months on Okaloosa Island, Florida (near Destin).

She is preceded in death by her parents. Survivors include her loving husband of nearly sixty years, Gary of Roaming Shores, Ohio; her two children, Shelley K. (John) Samsa of Roaming Shores, Ohio, and Bradley W (Cassandra) Long of Loveland, Ohio; her sister, Susan (Norman) Fisher of Aurora, Ohio; four grandchildren, Alexis, Sydni, Ryan, and C.J.; and a great-grandson on the way.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, January 31, 2026, at 1:00 PM at Gattozzi and Son Funeral Home, 12524 Chillicothe Road, Chesterland, OH, 44026. Calling hours will be held on Saturday, January 31st from 11:00 am until the time of services.
