The apple tree is in full bloom.

A cloud of white flowers

With the fragrant scent drifting from it

It is hard to resist its beauty.

Yet, it is only for the briefest of time.

Soon, the petals fall,

And the measure of the tree becomes

Not the moment of its youth and all its splendor.

Instead, the worth is the fruit it bears.

Should we not be so judged?

Let us not dwell on the brief spring of Ray’s life. Instead, let's focus on the bountiful fruit he leaves behind. May his legacy remind us to cherish life's beauty and sow seeds that endure long past our own season.
