He was born Dec. 13, 1937, in Cleveland.
Mr. Gilchrist served in the U.S. Marine Corps.
Survivors are wife, Janice (nee Campana); children, Mark, Joie, Debra (Demetrios) and Steve (Mary Jo); grandchildren, Michael, Danielle and Mary; and stepgrandson, Alex; brother, Joseph (Sharon); and sister, Mary Ann (Vik). He was also uncle to many and best friend of his cats, Chester and Murphy.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Edwin F. and Ethel L. Gilchrist; and brother, William.
Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday at Divine Word Catholic Church, 8100 Eagle Road, Kirtland, OH 44094.
Services will be held 10 a.m. Tuesday, July 3, 2012, at the church. Interment will be in All Souls Cemetery in Chardon Township.
