

Alfredo Garcia, a man known for a sense of humor that could brighten any room, passed away peacefully in Chicago on April 3, 2026. Born on February 22, 1943, in Edinburg, Texas, to Santana and Alicia Garcia, Alfredo lived a life defined by devotion to his family and his community.
A dedicated servant of Jehovah, Alfredo was baptized on June 30, 1970. Throughout his 55 years of faithful service, he was known for giving moving public talks that touched the hearts of many. He had a special place in his heart for the youth, constantly encouraging "the young ones" to stay close to Jehovah. He was a source of both practical and spiritual wisdom, always ready with the right advice to help others navigate life’s challenges.
A loving husband, Alfredo is survived by his wife, Maria G. Garcia. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Victoria Garcia, with whom he shared three daughters (Deborah, Diana, and Denise). He was the proud father of four daughters: Deborah Mitchell, Diana Garcia, Denise Portillo, and Alicia A. Delgado. His legacy continues through his seven grandchildren: Jaime Lopez Jr., Julia Lopez, Tristan Mitchell, Danielle V. Mack, Kristen M. Mack, Justin Portillo, and Victoria A. Portillo.
Alfredo was a dear brother to Eva Torres and Alicia "Bivi" Bartels, and he is now resting along with his siblings who preceded him in death: Perfecta "Beve" Ramirez, Alonzo Garcia, Sophia G. Peña, and Alberto L. Garcia. He also leaves behind a host of nieces, nephews, and dear friends who will forever miss his quick wit, kind heart, and big smile. He will be deeply missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing him.
A visitation will be held at Drake & Son Funeral Home, 5303 North Western Ave, Chicago, IL 60625, US, on Wednesday, April 15, 2026, from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm, with a Time of Remembrance at 6:30 pm.
