Alice Wheeler, 87 passed peacefully March 11th 2025. A lifelong Chicago resident, she was born to Helen and Louis Burns and grew up in the Lincoln Square neighborhood with her three older siblings Kenneth, Helen (Sivert) Hollesen, and Katherine (Joe) Kalble. Her education started at St Mathias and then she graduated from Chappell Elementary. She attended Amundsen High School for two years and then graduated as a “Jones Girl” from Jones Commercial. She met the love of her life, RJ Wheeler at a party hosted by her sister Katherine. They were married in 1957 and resided in Lincoln Square until his death in 1979. She worked for Sears Roebuck & Co for over 40 years. A lifelong animal lover, she always had at least one collie and usually a cat, a bird. She was the proud and “fun” Aunt to eight nieces and nephews: Gregory, Carol, Alison, Adele, Hollie, Joey, Steven and Sivert. Fresh water fishing was a lifelong vacation destination. Besides knitting and crocheting, reading was her favorite pastime. She was an avid cake decorator with her sister Helen. She is missed already, but blessed to be with the Lord. May we now rest in eternal peace. Visitation Monday March 17th 10AM-Noon at Drake & Son Funeral Home, 5303 N. Western Ave., Chicago followed immediately by services and Interment at Rosehill Cemetery.
