Calvin Joseph Migely

Born on May 1, 1998 to Julianne and Peter Migely of Chicago, IL, Calvin attended St. Hilary Elementary School, Loyola Academy and graduated from the University of Illinois with a degree in Economics and minors in History and Business. Calvin was a member of the Sigma Alpha Epsilon fraternity and also studied at the Vienna University of Economics and Business. A Financial Solutions Advisor at Merrill Lynch since 2023, Calvin helped clients achieve their financial goals by providing personalized advice and guidance on wealth management needs. Formerly a TD Ameritrade Retail Trading Specialist, Calvin was passionate about helping people make informed and confident financial decisions, and valued integrity, collaboration, and excellence in his work.

Calvin also gave his time to serving as a junior board member at Swedish Hospital in Chicago. Known as the “commissioner” for many family/friend sponsored basketball and football pools, Calvin always brought his love of sports (especially Pickleball) to a fun and competitive level that included all ages. He cheered relentlessly for his beloved Illini and kept everyone in check with their standings. A die-hard Rolling Stones fan, his musical tastes spanned many genres as did his love of classic films. He could quote from The Godfather as easily as he could tell you who played at Woodstock. Well-studied in Roman history and Greek philosophy, Calvin was fortunate enough to travel extensively in Europe and other locations. Never missing a chance to attend a family or social event, Calvin dressed impeccably and was known for his favored French cuffs.

Calvin’s huge heart and unmistakable grin were his trademarks as was his uncanny ability to remember birthdays (and be the first to wish a happy one). His truly genuine interest in the youngest cousin to the oldest grandparent in the room leant a quality of kindness and love for his family and friends that was cut short too soon.

Calvin is survived by his parents, siblings, Matthew and Eloise Migely; grandparents, Judith and Michael Sawyier; grandmother, Donna (Haider) Migely; and many Migely and Sawyier aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Joseph Migely. Private services were held at Rosehill Cemetery in Chicago on January 17, 2025.
