

Dolores L. Nielsen nee Rasbid of Palm Harbor, FL was born March 27, 1927, passed away Saturday, January 24, 2026, at the age of 98; she was preceded in death by her loving husband, Harry Nielsen, parents, John and Margaret Rasbid and close sister, Marguerite Heaster.
At the University of Chicago, Dolores met her husband, Harry Nielsen. They were married in 1952 at Nativity Church of the Blessed Virgin Mary in Chicago. She is survived by her daughter, Barbara Nielsen of Palm Harbor, Florida. Barbara moved to Florida seven years ago to help mom and has lovingly cared for her through health problems the last two years. She is also survived by her daughter, Karen Nielsen Isaacs, husband Don Isaacs, grandchildren, Phillip Isaacs, Peter Isaacs, Meg Shaw, husband Lee Shaw and her great-granddaughter Mia Shaw all of Lafayette, Indiana.
She was a legal secretary before and after raising children. Her favorite job was working at the headquarters for the McDonald's Corporation with their educational programs. As a wonderful mother she took neighborhood girls to the beach, museums and zoo in Chicago. She was dedicated to supporting her daughters' violin lessons, youth symphony and recitals in downtown Chicago. Some of her volunteer activities included working as a secretary at St. Cajetan school and leadership roles in various organizations, such as Community Concerts and the Metropolitan Youth Symphony Orchestra (Chicago). At 90 years old, she retired from volunteer work, after several years of organizing the north Pinellas branch of Eckerd Colleges Osher Lifelong Learning Institute (OLLI). She spent many years caring for elderly relatives and moved to Florida to care for family. Dolores had a fulfilling and happy life as a wife, mother, daughter, sister, friend and community member.
Visitation Wednesday, February 4th, 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. at St. Cajetan Church, 2445 W. 112th St. Chicago, IL with Funeral Mass to follow at 10:00 a.m. Interment St. Casimir Cemetery, Chicago, IL. Arrangements entrusted and handled by Andrew J. McGann & Son Funeral Home (773) 783-7700.
