Beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister
Dolores was born in Chicago on June 25,1934 to Frank and Florence (Warden) Dolezil. With her younger brother Eugene, Dolores grew up in the Noble Square neighborhood, where she met John Prokuski, her soulmate and husband for nearly 63 years.
In Dolores’s life, family came first. With John they made a warm and loving home for their three children - Linda, David and Diane. Fond memories include family weekends in Fox Lake, summer vacations in Florida, Dolores’s famous noodle salad and her delicious poppy seed cake.
The birth of each grandchild brought more joy into Dolores’s life. Sebastian, Suzanne, Rachel, Mitchell, Penelope and Madison could not have had a better cheerleader; their grandmother traveled far and wide to spend time with them, to watch hundreds of performances over the years, and to give the extra-special hugs only a grandmother can give.
John and Dolores enjoyed each other’s company more than anything else, and together wove a rich life through their favorite road trips, restaurants, casinos, and Hallmark Channel movies.
Second only to the love for her family was Dolores’s dedication to the employees and customers of Community Savings Bank, where she worked for 35 years. Through her service as Community’s NOW account supervisor and her participation on the bank’s supervisory management committee, Dolores served thousands of customers over the years and created extraordinary friendships with her colleagues.
Dolores lived a compassionate and caring life. She left a trail of love wherever she went, and those who were lucky enough to be in her path will forever remember her caring spirit and generous soul.
Dolores died at home surrounded by her family. She leaves behind loving memories for her husband, John Prokuski; her son, David (Anne) Prokuski; her daughter, Diane (Steven) Glass; grandchildren Sebastian, Suzanne, Rachel, Mitchell, Penelope and Madison; and brother Eugene (Sandi) Dolezil. Dolores is predeceased by her daughter, Linda Prokuski, who died on January 1, 2017.
