Erika Zoepfl of Chicago, Illinois passed away at home on Tuesday, September 21, 2021, at age 97. Erika was born September 2, 1924, in Ingolstadt Germany. She met the love of her life, Joseph, whom she married in 1950. They were married for 60 years until Joe passed on in 2011.
Erika had a passion for music, especially classical and church hymns. She had a lovely singing voice and sang in choirs all of her life. She was an avid reader and had an amazing ability to recall details of books she read well into her 90's. She also enjoyed needlepoint and going to the movies. Most of all, she loved spending time with family and friends. . Her gentle and generous spirit as well as her sense of humor will be greatly missed.
Erika is survived by her son Fred (Melissa), daughter Erica, and special nephew Ralph (Marisa); beloved grandchildren Anna (Charles), Joel (Jenny), Eric (Taylor), Ellie (Freddie), and Mark (Mary); and cherished great grandchildren Avery, Finley, and Lucas.
