Eusebio Hernandez Barrera, born in Llano Grande Durango, Mexico on the beautiful day of March 5, 1954, passed away unexpectedly, leaving behind a legacy of love, strength, and laughter. He carried with him deep pride in his roots: la Tierra de los Alacranes, Durango, and everything that made him a true Durangense.
He was the beloved son of the late †Jovita Barrera Maldonado and †Ascencion Hernandez Arreola, and is now reunited with his parents. Eusebio was also the devoted husband of the late †Albertina Nuñez, and he now rejoins her, forever gazing into the beautiful green eyes that he loved so dearly.
A loving and protective father, Eusebio is survived by his children: Maria De Jesus Aguayo (Michael Aguayo), Manuela Gonzalez (Jaime Gonzalez), and Mario Avila. He was a proud and joyful grandfather to Eusebio “Chevito” Avila, Guadalupe Aguayo, Alyssa Michelle Aguayo, Cynthia Evette Rodriguez, Samantha Rodriguez, Jamilette Juana Gonzalez, Michael Angelo Aguayo, Alexander Amiel Aguayo, Savannah Gonzalez, Mario A. Avila Jr., and Laurie Marie Avila.
He is also survived by his siblings: Natalia Castañeda, Maria Cleofas Gutierrez Hernandez, Paula Huerta, Juana Rodriguez, Emma Hernandez, Maria Inez Hernandez, and Jose Margarito Hernandez. Eusebio now reunites with his siblings †Rosa Hernandez, †Maria del Refugio “Cuca” Marquez, †Aurelia Hernandez, †Gregoria Hernandez, †Jose Angel Hernandez, and †Carlos Hernandez, who preceded him in death.
Eusebio dedicated over 30 years of his life working as a supervisor at Acme Die Casting, where he earned the respect of colleagues through his hard work and integrity. As a hardworking man, he also worked as a delivery driver with Castillo Delivery. Most of all, he was an extraordinary caregiver to his wife, who suffered from Alzheimer’s, caring for her with love and patience until her last day.
He will be remembered as a loving father who always protected his children, and as a fun, spirited grandfather who brought laughter to his family. He was the kind of grandpa who wouldn’t think twice about climbing onto a jungle gym or racing his grandchildren at the park, creating moments they will cherish forever. His signature dark humor was a trait he
proudly passed down, creating countless cherished memories. He had a way of seeing the world through a lens of love, pride and loyalty. In his eyes, his grandchildren could do no wrong—even when we all knew otherwise. He welcomed all his sons-in-law into the family as if they were his own, teaching them mechanics and ways to repair things around the house.
Eusebio shared a special bond with his nieces and nephews, always showing his affection in his own playful way, often teasing and “bugging” them in a way that made them feel loved and remembered.
He also knew how to fill hearts and stomachs with joy. His arroz con leche and pancakes were legendary, and he never turned down a cup of Dunkin’ Donuts coffee. He loved music, especially Ramón Ayala, Los Huracanes, Los Tigres, and many more, and he never missed a chance to dance to any kind of music. He enjoyed simple pleasures like going to thrift stores, especially early on Monday mornings for the 50% off deals.
Eusebio was known and respected as a genuine, kind-hearted man whose presence left a lasting impact on everyone who knew him. His passing is an unexpected and heartbreaking loss, and he will be deeply missed by all who loved him.
