

He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 57 years, Irene Mahon; his parents, William and Ann C. Notaro; his brother, William (Maryann) Mahon; and Joseph Notaro.
Frank is lovingly remembered by his children: Diane Shewmake, Patrick (Elizabeth) Mahon.
He was a devoted grandfather of the late Gregory Shewmake, Geoff (Morin) Chaumette, Rachel Mahon, and Nicholas (Hailey) Mahon.
He was a loving great-grandfather to Evelyn, Ferdinand, Esme, Beau, Remi, Lola, and Bradley, and held a special fondness for Aiden and Amina Kekic. He also leaves behind many dear nieces and nephews—Debbie, Billy, Julia, Joey, and Cheryl.
A proud veteran, Frank served his country with honor during the Korean War.
Frank dedicated 30 years of his career to Trane, where he took great pride in his work and truly enjoyed what he did.
He was also an avid sports fan, cheering enthusiastically for Chicago’s teams—the Cubs, Bears, and Blackhawks—with steadfast loyalty. Frank had a deep love for music and was always eager to attend concerts.
Above all, Frank will be remembered for his love, strength, and unwavering commitment to his family and friends. He will be deeply missed and forever cherished.
A visitation for Frank will be held on Saturday, June 7, 2025, from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Malec & Sons Funeral Home, 6000 N Milwaukee Ave, Chicago, IL 60646. Chapel prayers will follow at 12:00 PM at the same location. Entombment with Military Honors will take place at Maryhill Cemetery in Niles, IL.
