

George passed peacefully in the presence of family on January 5 2026 at the age of 80. He attended Chicago Vocational High School and received an Associate’s Degree in Law Enforcement from Calumet College of St. Joseph. George served his country in the U.S. Army Military Police in Vietnam, receiving an award for heroism. He served the City of Chicago as a policeman with a career spanning 33 years. He was a patrolman, a field training officer (FTO) and dispatcher at the Office of Emergency Management and Communications (OEMC). George was a member of the Fraternal Order of Police (FOP), the German American Police Association (GAPA) and Retire Chicago Police Association.
George enjoyed building military models and developed an extensive collection. He was a swim meet official while Caitlin was a member of the YMCA swim team. He enjoyed travelling and gatherings with family and friends. He enjoyed watching movies and sports.
George is survived by his wife, Elizabeth (Gail) and his children, George Joseph and Caitlin Elizabeth. He was the proud uncle of many nieces, nephews and great-nieces & nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, George J and Blanche Horner Bohling, Sr. and his sisters, Beverly Konyar and Barbara Carlson.
The Memorial Service will be held at Malec and Sons, 6000 N Milwaukee Ave Chicago, IL 60646, Thursday, January, 22, 2026, from 10:00 am to 11:30 am. There will be a period of visitation, followed by military honors, prayers and remembrances.
