

It is with a heavy heart and deep sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved young brother, Gregory Robert Bujwid, a Navy Veteran, at the age of 58. He died on Sunday, December 7, 2025 after a battle with the terminal illness of Progressive Supranuclear Palsy (PSP).
Greg served our country for over 30 years that included service in the Navy in the Persian War, served Communications for the White House and finally the U.S. Department of Justice in the DEA division. His tenure in the Department of Justice ended as a result of his illness.
Born in Chicago, Illinois, he was the son of Olgierd and Bernice Bujwid (both deceased). He graduated from Set. Juliana Grammar School and Notre Dame High School. He then enlisted in the Navy. Boot Camp and his training were at Naval Station Great Lakes in North Chicago, IL. On weekends and holidays, he would come home with is Navy buddies for a home cooked meal. On completion of training he was transferred to Naval Base San Diego, the main homeport for the Pacific Fleet. He trained in communications and once the 1s* Gulf War started he served on the USS Dixon stationed in Addis Abba, Saudi Arabia.
On his return home, he applied for the military position at the White House in Presidential Communications. Out of 100 candidates, he was chosen. He served 2 terms of President Clinton's Administration. Once his military career ended, he joined the U.S. Department of Justice.
He lived a life of service and adventure traveling to destinations all over the world while in the Navy, Presidential Communications and the Department of Justice. He was a kind, soft spoken and gentle man who loved his family.
He is survived by siblings Wanda McKenna and Henry (Hank) Bujwid and step daughter Sarah Matthews and his niece, Rachel Bujwid.
A memorial visitation will be held at Malec & Sons Funeral Home, located at 6000 North Milwaukee Ave, Chicago, IL 60646, on December 19, 2025, from 9:00 am to 11:30 am. Following a funeral mass will take place at Saint Juliana Catholic Church, located at 7201 N Oketo Ave, Chicago, IL 60631, on December 19, 2025, beginning at 12:00 pm. Following the mass a committal service will be held at Maryhill Catholic Cemetery and Mausoleum, located at 8600 N Milwaukee Ave, Niles, IL 60714, on December 19, 2025.
