

Born in Chicago, Illinois, to Patrick and Kathryn Kielty. Beloved brother of Donna M. (Robert) Vodraska and Nancy P. (the late John) Fazy. Loving uncle to Robert (Jennifer) Vodraska, Cyndi (Matthew) Ryan, John (Angela) Fazy, Sara (Nick) McNamara, and Michael (Jean) Fazy. His memory will also be cherished by his many great-nieces and nephews.
James dedicated 32 years as a Spanish teacher with the Chicago Public Schools. He was also a former member of the Christian Brothers of Ireland and a proud graduate of the first graduating class of 1960 at Brother Rice High School. He served as a lector at St. John Fisher Church for 29 years and was also a lector at St. Linus Church, was a longtime Eucharistic Minister at both St. John Fisher and St. Linus Churches, and also ministered at Christ Hospital.
James had a passion for bowling, blackjack, and poker, and he deeply valued the friendships he made while living at Heartis Village, Orland Park, where he was honored and recognized for his active participation in community events.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, September 28, from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Andrew J. McGann & Son Funeral Home, 10727 S. Pulaski Road, Chicago. Funeral prayers will begin Monday, September 29, at 10:15 a.m. at the funeral home, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m. at St. Linus Catholic Church, 10300 Lawler in Oak Lawn, IL. Interment will follow at Mt. Olivet Cemetery, 2755 W 111th Street in Chicago, Illinois.
