Judith “Judy” Ramos, 76, passed away on January 9, 2021. Though she is now joined with her beloved son Terry, she is survived by her devoted husband Luis Gerardo Ramos and her cherished children Mitzi Ramos, Randy Ramos (Laura), and Tracy Ramos (Keegan).
Judy was born in Guanacaste, Costa Rica to Feliciano Medina and Eucebia Gutierrez in 1944. She immigrated to the United States with her husband and made Chicago, Illinois her home. She dreamed of pursuing the American Dream in hopes of providing a better future for her children. Through her labor of love, she succeeded and raised three determined, ambitious, and professional children.
In her early 30s, Judy enrolled in Cosmetology school and, with her entrepreneurial spirit, opened Odyssey Hair Studio where she served Chicago’s Albany Park community for over 30 years. She took great pride in her work and her clientele held a special place in her heart.
Judy was also a devout Christian and a member of the United Christian Church during her lifetime. Her passion was music and she basked in joy when she sang hymns to the Lord. Her strong Christian roots were reflected in her giving nature, her compassion, and her courageous spirit.
Judy was the matriarch of her family. The void she leaves behind is one that can never be filled. Though her loss will forever be felt, her legacy will continue to live on through her family and loved ones.
A virtual Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, January 23, 2021 at 2:00 pm. If you are interested in attending the memorial virtually, visit the United Christian Church Facebook page. We will also be posting the ceremony on Judy’s Facebook page for those who cannot attend the event live.
