Kathleen Magdalena (Redwanc) Heroux, age 79, peacefully passed in her sleep on June 5, 2024. Preceded in death by her Father, Arthur (1999), and her Mother, Jane (Slonina) Redwanc (1999), her Sister Joanne (Redwanc) Mack (2024), her Husband Robert Heroux, (2011), and her Son, Robert John Heroux (2005). Cousin to Ted Staniec, Linda (Staniec) Sullivan, Priscilla Staniec, the late Gary Staniec (2014), Kathleen (Redwanc) Peterson, the late Brian Redwanc, (2017), Judy (Jessica) Sass, John Jessica, the late Peggy Maryanne Korda (1946), and adopted family members John and Donna Wisley.
Kathleen was a loving wife and mother that lost both her husband and son far too young. Devotion to her students as a School Psychologist and the love and attention of her animals kept Kathleen smiling. Her smile was as beautiful as she was inside and out. She was a very private person about everything from her family, to her job, her health and even to her literary achievements.
Kathleen grew up in Chicago with her parents and sister and ultimately settled in Chicago with her Husband and Son. She was an avid horse rider from the age of 5. She continued riding till shortly before her passing. Kathleen rescued animals all of her life. Her existing Horse, Faith traveled from Florida to her new home in Chicago. Her dogs, Coba, Bunji, China, Denny and a host of other fur babies had the fortunate experience to be cared for by Kathleen.
Early in life Kathleen was a waitress and continued in this profession as she worked her way through school. Kathleen seemed to have a quest to study as much as humanly possible. She often said it kept her sane with all the sadness she had experienced in life. A brilliant mind she was, having achieved four Masters Degrees and a Doctorate in Psychology. Her ultimate job was as a School Psychologist. She counseled many students and her impact on students kept many of them contacting her to share their stories.
Kathleen will be missed by many but she is now with her parents, husband, son and sister. Surely, she was welcomed with open arms. May she rest in peace free from pain and disease?
