Kwok Ping Ng

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Kwok Ping Ng on April 3, 2025 at the age of 90. He was the devoted husband of 61 years to his wife, loving father to his three children. Kwok was a beloved Grandfather to 10 grandchildren and Great-Grandfather to 3 great-grand kids.

Kwok was born in China. After WWII and civil unrest, he moved to Hong Kong alone as a teenager to find a better life. In Hong Kong, with much hard work, he created a life for himself while always remembering his family members who remained in China. Hong Kong was where he met lifelong friends, married and started a family.

In pursuit of the American dream, Kwok, and his young family immigrated to the United States. With hard work and focused endurance, Kwok became an entrepreneur, and after four years opened his first business in Chicago. He had an innate business sense along with a generous heart, which served him well as he continued the rest of his working career as a restaurateur and entrepreneur.

After retirement, Kwok enjoyed playing with and adoring his grand and great-grand kids. He enjoyed socializing with his friends over coffee and staying fit while exercising and swimming. He enjoyed traveling globally with his family and friends. Retirement also gave him opportunity to become even more active in his community. Over the years, he was honored to serve his community in many capacities in several Chinatown associations including President of the Ng Family Association in Chicago.

We will miss him greatly. His cheerfulness, love for others, and selflessness made everyone feel welcome around him. He had the sharpest wit, a remarkable memory, and an infectious smile. He had a spirit and aura that was kind and patient. He was a devoted and loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather and mentor to many. He was a loyal caring friend and was fortunate to have many lifelong friends.

Kwok left an honorable legacy of love, faithfulness, friendship, and family. We will miss him dearly but will always keep the life lessons he embodied with us always.

A celebration of Kwoks life will be held on Sunday, April 13 with a visitation from 1:00 pm - 4:00 pm with the service to begin at 4:00 pm at Drake and Son Funeral Home, 5303 North Western Avenue, Chicago, IL 60625. A final viewing will begin at 9:30 am - 10:30 am on Monday, April 14 at the Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Rosehill Cemetery, Chicago, IL.
