Every memory of Gay is a favorite. From all the magical early years at Montana Street when she would swoop in the door in her nurse's cape, and every time the Easter Bunny left the most beautiful baskets, it was our cousin Gay. Everyone who knew her was blessed. The video tribute is perfect, she was surrounded by people who loved her - Thank you for everything Paul, Guy and Janet

I had the priviledge of having Leone as my tenant, I don't know for how many years. She always had a smile, she always had a good word. She was quite a fantastic woman. I will miss her.

Our beloved Aunt Gay, Leone Rosalie Ryan (nee Gross), passed away peacefully on August 2, 2019, at the age of 89, in Chicago.

Leone was born in Chicago on October 17, 1929 to Rosalie and Leo Gross. She earned her RN from St. Joseph’s Hospital in 1952, her Bachelor of Science in Nursing in 1955 from DePaul University and her graduate degree in Nursing from the University of Illinois in 1973.

Leone worked for almost 40 years for both the City of Chicago and the State of Illinois in various front line and supervisory roles including Staff Nurse, Head Nurse, Clinical Instructor and Public Health Nurse. It is without a doubt that over all those years she was of invaluable help to countless seniors, adults and children.

Leone married her high school sweetheart William John Ryan, on November 13, 2004, at the age of 75. Sadly, Bill passed away in April of 2007. They enjoyed two and half wonderful years together.

Leone is survived by her nephews and niece, Paul (Liliana) Gross, Guy (Ellen) Gross and Janet (Terry) Brazill. She will be truly missed by all her great nieces and nephews: Laurel, Lindsay, Alexander, Tyler, Nicholas, Thomas and Ryan. She also leaves her stepchildren Maureen Ryan, Timothy (Kay) Ryan, Margaret (Kim) Ryan, and William (Susan) Ryan and granddaughter Kelly Ryan.

Leone is preceded in death by her parents, her brother Maurice Gross and sister-in-law Gloria Gross

Dear Gay, heaven is a much better place since you arrived. We shared so many good times it would take a book to enumerate all of the fun we shared. Bridge, trips, casino, dinners out to name a few. Be careful up there, don't make thme jealous of the wonderful person that you are. Love you, Evelyn
