

Marina loved cooking for her family, traveling to new places and countries, and learning new ballroom dances then displaying her skills at parties. She spent her professional career supporting office functions for Masonite (material manufacturing) and Samuel Haber and Sons (textiles industry) both in Chicago. Marina then retired early to be a full time grandmother to all her grandchildren.
She believed in helping others in her spare time as demonstrated through her active roles in fundraising, food banks, and senior care programs. Marina was a member of the Filipino Friendship Society of Bolingbrook, Illinois, Lions Clubs International, Catholic Charities, and the Filipino American Council of Greater Chicago.
Marina is survived by her three loving children Jina (Nathan) Canson, Divina (Liel) Alban, and Jaime (Christine McWard) Alban; she was the loving Lola to Selena, Kayley, Cameron, Brendan, Sophia, and Samuel; and a sister and aunt to many loving brothers, sisters, nieces and nephews.
Friends and family will gather for a Mass of Christian Burial for Marina that will be held at 10:00 AM on Saturday, January 27th, 2024 at St. Padre Pio Parish, 5600 North Fairfield Avenue, Chicago, Illinois with an interment to follow at Rosehill Cemetery. A visitation will be held Friday, January 26th, 2024 from 4:00 pm until 8:00 pm at Drake & Son Funeral Home, 5303 North Western Avenue, Chicago, Illinois 60625.
