Mark, Its amazing how much you have touched so many. Jose and I mention you more now than ever because we have a heavy heart that you were taken so early in your life. But it has also made us realized that we need to smile more like you, love life like you did and rejoice in the days the Lord blesses us with. You will always be remembered in my heart and in my soul. I am so glad I had the pleasure to be part of your life many years ago but never let it end and continued to be friends. I can honestly say I miss you calling just to say hello and ask how im doing and ask about my little girl who is my hero as you are to many. Hey Pops, I think about you everyday,it was too soon to lose you. I will always laugh & smile about great memories I've had with you but @ the same time I'm bitter that we can't create anymore. It's hard to grasp the fact that you're not here, there has been so many times that i've wanted to call you for advice, text you and visit you but then I get emotional because I'm not able to. It's ok though because I know you are in a better place and no more pain and suffering for you. I will always be proud to be your son and will always remember everything you've taught me. I can't believe it's already been a month! It's seems so unreal that you are gone.  Every time I walk into your house I'm expecting you to pop out of a room with that big smile of yours and say "Hey Maritza" and give me one of your awesome hugs! You are dearly missed every single day! I promised you I would take care of Charo, please know that I will keep that promise every day that I breathe; I will always be by her side. Everything I want to say, should say, you already know. On days when you have pendejitis, and you're reading through these love notes we've all left you, know that I am only a phone call away, I can probably make it to your house in 10 min's (if I don't get caught =] ). 

You have been a pillar of strength for so many, especially during those hardest days before and after Mark passed; don't be so strong that you don't reach out for a shoulder when you really need one, it's ok to be vulnerable and let it all out. 

I love you more than words can say! I am so very lucky to have you as my bestest friend in the whole wide world (lol)...I thank God for you and pray that He will grace you with peace that surpasses understanding; that is the one sure thing that will get your through every day.

Well its been a month now and it still feels like it was yesterday.  I knew you for half of my life. You allowed me to share your brother and for that I thank you. I will remember you always, every time Cristian and Jr sit around and talk about sports, when I see a mail man on the street, when I see the number 21,when I see someone with a big old smile, like you always had on your face.  Or just when someone calls me by my full name, Marisa.  Everyone always called me Mari but not you.  You always call me Marisa. You are missed dearly but I know you are in a better place.  Give your dad and my sister Cha Cha a big kiss for me and watch over us.

It is a month now, and a day does'nt pass by that I don't think of you. It's not easy, but i do really feel you still here! Why? Because you and I both lived for sports. So every game,Whatever I'm watching, every great moment, and every letdown, (Cubs) that I experience, you will always be with me! I have your back and will watch over your family, all of them! Theres a saying that goes "you can choose your friends, but you can't choose your family." well I'm glad GOD chose us to be brothers. i have many friends, but you are my only brother! and although you were younger than me, you were my role model and i still strive to be the best that i can be, cause we both know how competetive we both are! Mark, I still have not accepted the fact that you are not with us any longer. I am still numb. I have known you my whole life and it hurts me tremendously to think that a brother as wonderful and perfect as you can no longer bless us with your presence. I feel like we all have been cheated by losing such a great man like you so soon. This world was a better place when you were here with us. I am still trying to stop hating myself for moving so far away from you that we couldn't be involved in each others lives more as adults. I find comfort in knowing that only I have the memories we shared together, and having that is helping me get through this.  I miss you soo much! Our home is not the same without you. It's hard to be here at times, everywhere I look I am reminded of you and it hurts to know that you are no longer with us. I wish the kids and I had more time with you. You were such a great and loving person. I am very grateful and I appreciate everything you have done for me and my kids. You were always there for me, always gave me great advise and gave me a shoulder to cry on when I needed one. Thank you so much Mark for stepping in and being my father, friend and papa to my kids. My heart is heavy for your loss.... I may not have known Mr. Cruz personally, but, Nicole has been a part of my family for years.... I hurt for her, and her entire family and anyone who knew Mr. Cruz. Although I may not have met him, Nicole made sure she always talked about her daddy, and how amazing he was... I am truely sorry for your loss, and like I told Nicole--Look to the sky, he is in the clouds, the sun and stars, the leaves and the wind..... He is everywhere and will be with you all forever.... Hey Mark, Manny and I drove down Irving Park the other day,  we realized driving down that road will never be the same...  I said a prayer for you as we passed by... Then Manny and I laughed and remembered about the time when I was baking all those muffins for a fundraiser and you took one of the doggie gourmet chocolate chip cookies and ate it.... I was shocked because I had ALL those muffins all over the kitchen counters but the doggie cookie treat called out your name instead...  That brought a smile to our faces, we laughed in the car and in quick disbelief remembered your gone, and so loved by many... My Charo adores you, and always will... Remember you will have "Mark's Angels"always  taking care of Charo, because we will always be there for eachother...  Sleep now for one day everyone will see each other again... We are still in disbelief over Mark's passing, and our heart aches at such a huge loss.  We will always remember Mark's beautiful smile, his big hugs, and just how special he made people feel. Mark was apart of everyone's life he came across. From the baseball fields to the poker table in my basement, Mark had a smile that lit up the room. My prayers are with you and the entire family.
