Marshall was born in Jacksonville, Florida on August 26, 1965 and was a man of many names. He was referred to by most as Marshall or his childhood nickname J.M. However, his three daughters reveled in coming up with many names for him over the years: Reba, Fajah, Daddy-o, Mr. Maturity to name a few.
Marshall was happily married to his wife, Bambi, for 29 years and was a dedicated provider and support system for those in his life. He spent each of his 57 years loving and teaching with quiet grace, thoughtful respect, and gentle kindness. In addition to his wife, he is survived by his daughters Nikki, Katie, and Jenni; his mother Sharon; his brother Wes; and his nieces and nephew, Alex, Abby, and Emma. He was preceded in death by Marshall Gibbs Sr.
Marshall’s commitment to his family cannot be overstated. His daughters recall that growing up, many would publicly stop him to lament about having a household full of girls, but Marshall never entertained them. He cherished being a girl dad, proudly standing by their sides and playing many roles: from caring advice giver to ridiculously corny joke maker to stead-fast financial planner. Additionally, he was a loving son, a supportive brother, and treasured by extended family. He loved nothing more than spending time with his family, including trips to Mexico and Sunday dinners.
In addition to being a man of many names, Marshall was a man of many hobbies and interests. He loved technology and remained the first to try the latest gadget and gizmo. He was a food and wine connoisseur, always the go-to guy for what to order and how to swish your wine just so, plus he wasn’t too shabby in his own kitchen, too. He was also a Formula1 and car enthusiast before it was trendy: His daughters recall waking up early with him to catch the international races throughout their childhood. He was an avid sports fan, especially loving his alma mater The University of Florida, resulting in the family dog being named Tebow.
Marshall also had a robust career. He obtained both a bachelor's degree and an MBA from the University of Florida, and will be remembered for his quick wit, intellect, and clear business insights. But, more prominently, his professional life was defined by his role as a leader. He was a loyal and supportive mentor, the kind who stayed invested after his colleagues or team members would move on to their next job. He always had their individual success in mind, and led with empathy and compassion.
Marshall was a true pillar in the lives of those around him. He led his life with strength, respect, and love for his family.
