Mary J. Galati

She and Fred Galati had 4 children: Rocky, Cheri, Ross, Tony, 6 grand children: Chris, Sean, Ashley, Linsey, Mikel, Aalia, and 4 great grandchildren: Oren, Spencer, Bohdan, Remy.

She and Fred grew up in old town Chicago. She worked as a soda jerk at Woolworth, bank teller, temp agent manager, and real estate agent. She was a tenacious Mom who advocated with a fierce passion for her kids, and her grandkids, as well as foster kids.

She drove muscle cars and played sports: a 57 Chevy, Mustang convertible, Mercury Cougar, and most recently Chevy Camaro. She was a member of several gyms playing: volleyball, racquetball, tennis, pickleball, and bags.

She gave her kids unrelenting advocacy, encouragement to explore their passions and lots of love. She was quick to laugh, dance and play. She loved Barbara Streisand, poker, and a clean house.

We were all so very lucky to have enjoyed the warmth of her life force and lion heart. She will be dearly missed.

The family would like to thank the caring staff of Norwood Crossing and Rainbow Hospice.

Memorial Visitation will be held December 13th, 2-5 pm, at Malec & Sons 6000 N. Milwaukee Ave., Chicago, IL 60646. Celebration of life Service will start at 2:30 pm at the same location.
