

Born in Sydney, Australia on November 9, 1938 to Kenneth Charles Bice, a banker, and Winifred Jean Edgar, a school teacher. Dr. Bice practiced for over forty years at Rush University Medical Center and was also affiliated with Louis A. Weiss Memorial Hospital in Chicago. In his later years he collaborated as a priest with the Church of The Atonement on Chicago north side.
Dr. Bice first studied medicine at the University of Sydney, Australia graduating in 1963. After being awarded a Fulbright scholarship to study theology at the General Theological Seminary in New York he received his Masters of Divinity degree. In 1967 he was ordained a Deacon in Vermont and later that year a priest in New York. He became a member of the staff of New York's Cathedral of Saint John the Divine. In 1971, Rev. Bice completed his medical education at Tulane University in New Orleans and a residency at Touro VA Hospital during which time he was also an assistant priest at St George's Episcopal Church. When his medical residency was completed Father Bice moved to England to begin a three year appointment as University Chaplain in the University of London medical schools.
In 1975, Dr. Bice started practicing internal medicine at Rush Presbyterian Saint Luke's Hospital in Chicago where he remained until his retirement in 2017. As a physician Dr. Bice cared for many patients throughout the AIDS crisis becoming one of the main practitioners in Chicago in this field. He also cared for many elderly patients and many others who mourn his loss. He enjoyed traveling, reading history and religious books and studying French language.
Dr. Bice is survived by his spouse Nivaldo Seles, his sisters Margaret and Shelley, his brothers Robert and Kenneth, his nieces and nephews and dearly by his long-time friends for whom he was family.
A Requiem Mass will be held on Saturday, August 19 at 5 pm at Church of the Atonement, 5749 North Kenmore Avenue, Chicago, IL 60660. The Funeral Mass will be livestreamed by using the link provided below.
