
A lifelong resident of Chicago, Illinois, passed away on March 22, 2026, at the age of 54, after a valiant fight against glioblastoma.
Throughout his illness, Michael remained courageous, resilient, and positive. From his first diagnosis to his final days, he faced every challenge with dignity and grace, inspiring everyone around him. His last words to his loved ones were, “I’m good,” a true reflection of his spirit.
He is survived by his loving parents, Miguel Angel García and Zoila Clemencia Mariduena de García; his brother, Dennis García, sister-in-law, Jessica Kontopoulos, and nephew, Axel García; and his daughter, Jazmine Pittman.
Michael will be remembered for his courage, his devotion to family, and his deep connection to the city of Chicago. His youthful spirit, strength, and warmth will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
A Simple Gathering will be held at Malec & Sons Funeral Home, 6000 N Milwaukee Ave, Chicago, IL 60646, on March 31, 2026, from 9:30 am to 10:30 am.
A Memorial Mass will take place at St. Elizabeth of the Trinity, 6020 W. Ardmore Avenue, Chicago, IL 60646, on March 31, 2026, at 11:00 am.
Committal and Inurnment will follow at All Saints Cemetery, 700 N River Rd, Des Plaines, Illinois 60016, on March 31, 2026, at 12:30 pm.
