Monte Holt, a deeply loved brother, son, nephew, cousin, friend and husband, known for his compassion, humor, and radiant smile, was taken from us unexpectedly on the morning of April 25, 2026. Monte lived a life richly defined by love, joy and a devoted commitment to serving others.
He is survived by his cherished wife, Vasana, his best friend and identical twin, Michael, his sister, Jinna, his parents, Michael and Camilla, his grandmother, Jettie, his dear aunts and uncles, his treasured cousins (especially the youngest, Khloe, Kennedy, and Charlotte, whom he loved to dote on) and his four-legged daughter, Alba, whom he delighted in endlessly. He leaves them all with a lifetime’s worth of precious memories and everlasting love. He is now lovingly reunited with the grandparents he adored, Velvo and Helen Hudson and Robert Holt Sr., and his dear uncle Jamie Holt.
Monte was a beloved and dedicated educator at James B. Conant High School, whose staff and student body he considered family. He poured his heart into every student, believing deeply in their potential and going above and beyond to ensure they felt seen, supported and inspired. He celebrated their accomplishments and loved seeing them succeed. Monte's Conant colleagues were among his closest friends and confidants, including one who shared his most sacred ritual: a round of golf.
To Monte, there was beauty in life’s simple pleasures: the perfect combination of chocolate and peanut butter in any form, a summer’s day spent at Wrigley Field cheering on his Cubbies, crisp autumn Sundays spent smoking meats on his Traeger and watching “Da Bears,” and his newfound love of global travel, where he and Vasana could steal away and have each other all to themselves.
Monte, a beacon of love and kindness, will remain in our hearts forever. His legacy is exemplified by his many acts of service, from caring for his students as if they were his own children, his bimonthly donations of blood and his final act of giving through the donation of his organs. As we navigate the grief of losing Monte, we take comfort in knowing that his spirit endures in every act of love and kindness we extend to one another.
