I will say I was blessed to have known him .. my father is reunited with his longtime friend and hope they find each other to catch up . Glad to reunite with my bro and sis I inherited from the friendship … Pat and Maggie big hugs and prayers for you all .. love ya

I will always remember him with a smile on his face and always nice things to say about everyone he knew. You will truly be missed and please know how much you are loved.

In loving memory of Pat (part 2 of 2).
The proud Papa of Steven, Austin and Alex, Pat was the head of the family since his Dad passed in 1986, walking Theresa down the aisle for her wedding and being there as a Grandpa would for his nephews and nieces. 

Pat’s most persistent trait was dependability. If you needed him, he came, whether to bring some medicine and soup if you were sick, or to change your flat tire or pick up your kids from school.
In the end, that is what his family gave in return, taking him to frequent cancer treatments and doctors’ appointments, coordinating with his medical providers and keeping vigil at the hospital in his last days. 

Pat was loved and will be missed.


In loving memory of Pat (part 1 of 2)
Pat was the first son of Marge and Floyd, who left to serve in WWII in December of that year. He didn’t return until Pat was age 3.
When Pat was six, his brother Floyd was born, and the two were inseparable as boys (as you can see from the photos). He often referred to Floyd as his best friend.
As a pre-teen, Pat helped his dad renovate the home his mom had grown up in, and which would continue to be the family home until she passed 37 years later. Always helping by his father’s side, Pat became very handy at fixing things. Throughout his life, he gave advice and lent a hand in home renovations and repairs. Pat’s facility with tools and equipment led to his working as a machinist at Standard Brands. His interest was so keen that he later became an accomplished woodworker, building a woodshop behind his home and making cabinets for his own home and for others.
It was this willingness to serve that led Pat to join ROTC in school, where he learned to play drums. He continued to play drums in The Emanons (no name spelled backwards), a band he played in with Floyd and their good friend Roger.
When Pat was 19, his sister Theresa came along. That same year, he married his childhood sweetheart, Bernie. As young parents, they welcomed Pat Jr. and Maggie into their hearts. While working full-time and side jobs, Pat earned his bachelor’s degrees in Criminal Justice and IT. His son, Pat learned many home, auto and computer skills at his shoulder. Maggie was his princess and shared his love of Corvettes and interest in public service, working for years as a 911 dispatcher.
Pat’s interest in serving others is what led him to police work. He started as a part-time officer for the Village of Alsip, eventually rising to the rank of Sergeant over his nearly 30-year career with the force. He is followed in law enforcement by his grandsons Steven and Alex and his nephew Will.

I first met Pat at the time I lost my brother. I’ll always remember his kind words. Happy memories were the Thanksgiving gatherings at Theresa & Dwayne’s home. Pat enjoyed sharing jokes. I admired not only his work as a police officer, but his talent for carpentry. He truly loved his family and will be missed. God keep you in His care.

Pat, You were very kind, very thoughtful, and always ever so patient. I consider it an honor to have been treated as a member of the Engle Family and to have had the chance to spend time with our Uncle Pat. We Love You and We will Miss You until we meet again!
