My name is Yukun Lu. I am not an acquaintance of the family, but I was Mr. Schatzman's student when he taught at Wuhan No. 2 High School at Wuhan, China. I am so speechless right now after knowing the news of his death. It is so shocking and unexpected. I really regret that I did not contact him very much after I graduated from high school, ortherwise I won't miss this important news and his funeral. When I was a high schooler, Mr. Schatzman was always my favorite teacher back then. Unlike many Chinese teachers  who were always serious and strict, Mr. Schatzman changed my prejudice about the image of teachers. He was humorous, responsible and charismatic. It was always an enjoyment for me to attend his classes. Some of his Physics and Chemistry experiments are still as clear to me as it just happened yesterday. He was known as the KFC grandpa among the students back then and was liked and respected by his mentees. Finally, my condolences to the family and RIP Mr. Schatzman

I was a friend of Paul's brother Dan, and often talked with Paul, and I remember Paul's intellect and wit and kindness. He thought "outside the box".  I have great memories of Etta, Marty, Ray, and Paul, as well as their really cool parents.
Great to know the Schatzmans.

Paul was a wonderful friend since high school. There are so many memories, so many conversations, arguments and debates. From science to religion and culture, we'd challenge each other and he'd usually win. We were close. I remember some crazy things we did with our friends on Campbell Ave... We'd go for a "spin" in commercial dryers at a local  laundromat. We'd drive to 95th St beach on hot summer nights to cool off. Sitting on my front porch for hours and just talk, laugh and act goofy were some of the best times. We always enjoyed playing games on his deck, some he created himself. Cheese Pizza. No explanation needed.
When Paul taught physics in China, we visited him and traveled to the Forbidden City and the Great Wall. Priceless memories with a priceless friend. You are missed Paul, my heart aches.
