Rose Marie Groya

Rose Marie Theresa Groya, (née Kowalczyk), passed peacefully to eternal life ready to, “meet the Lord and thank Him for 95 wonderful years of life.” In a long list of dearly departed, Rose was the beloved wife (61 years) of the late Eddie Groya (CFD), cherished daughter of the late Frank and Emily Kowalczyk (née Mickus), and dearest sister of the late Regina Ann Kowalczyk. Rose leaves a beautiful legacy of faith, hope and love to daughter Susan Regina and son-in-law Scott Hoffman, son Robert Edward Groya, grandson Michael Scott Hoffman, Jr., and granddaughter Hailey Rose Hoffman. Rose’s earthly pilgrimage of countless relationships, experiences, and adventures from 1927 to 2022 is the stuff of great novels and movies. Anyone who knew her will miss her impeccable manners, wonderful disposition, easy sense of humor, positive attitude, and uncanny ability to make a big deal out of the simplest things. Unto her final days, while difficult to see or hear, confined to a wheelchair (purple of course), she kept the faith, lived life with vim and vigor awaking each morning with a cheery, “Good Morning World!” and laying down to sleep each night with a grateful “Thank you, thank you, thank you Lord.”

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that you joyfully toast, “Happy Days!” at five o’clock somewhere in Rose’s honor.

Visitation for Rose will be on Monday, July 11, 2022, from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM, at Malec & Sons Funeral Home, (Edward A. Tylka, Manager), 6000 N. Milwaukee Ave, Chicago, IL 60646. Prayer Service will be on Tuesday, July 12 at 9:30 AM to 9:50 AM at Malec & Sons, proceeding to Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 AM at Our Lady of Victory Church, 5212 W. Agatite, Chicago, IL 60634 (Funeral attendees are advised that the church does not have air conditioning), followed by the Rite of Committal at St. Adalbert Catholic Cemetery, 6800 N.
