He was my 6th grade teacher I will never forget him. He took me to see Jesus Christ Superstar. The greatest rock concert ever at the time.....I will never forget the time we locked him in the A.V Cloeset, he said he would get even with us but he never did what a great man and teacher My deepest condolences to all of his family and friends. My dear friend Bil,  How I miss you.  You were my bff for 50 years and I kept in touch with you most of that time.  My memories of the great fun we always had and our Lucille Ball adventures are always with me.  You will always be alive in my mind.  I love you.

Mr. Buralli is a beloved and renowned figure in my family.  He taught my sister early in his career at Marquette, I was a graduate of Marquette in 1976, and he subbed for my younger cousins at Latin in the past few years.  All in all, Mr. Buralli taught in our family for over 40 years.  My mother's memory isn't what it used to be but she certainly remembers Mr. Buralli!

I was fortunate to also know Mr. Buralli as an adult and I made the transition from 'Mr. B' to 'Bil' as we enjoyed a little whiskey in his apt on Sheridan Rd.  We got to discuss our cats (mine had significantly fewer monikers than his), common friends, and our experiences with cancer.  I was touched that Bil donated Lance Armstrong's book about surviving testicular cancer to the Latin School library in my honor.  As we made the transition from teacher/student to mutual friends, we enjoyed several meals and plays together and I will miss his company and joie de vivre.  

When my Marquette Class of 1976 had a reunion in 2009 (don't ask), we voted Mr. Buralli our favorite teacher.  It was a privilege to be in the group that  delivered this honor the next day.  I'm sure many classes would so honor him.    

Thank you for everything Mr. B; Bil.  I learned so much from you.

Mr. Buralli was a great teacher. I enjoyed being in his 6th grade class at Marquette Elementary School. My blessings go out to his family.

Mr. B was revelation -- that a teacher could also be a friend.  His wisecracks made me crack up so many times, his laugh still rings in my head.  The meals we sometimes had outside of class were memorable events; indeed, he always made me feel special.  Whether he came to see me on stage or I came to see him performing, I could feel his love for theater and his joy in producing and acting in shows.  Of all my teachers, he was the one I kept in touch with, whom I'd return to see when I was in Chicago. 
 
He was such a soft and gentle man.  I remember how he spoke of a book he loved, Robert Munsch's "Love You Forever", and how he got teary as he described it to me.  It's a simple story of undying love throughout a lifespan, and I find it a fitting tribute to use here.  Mr B, we'll love you forever.

Mr. Buralli was an outstanding educator and a kind and gentle soul.  For me, he did the impossible...he made math fun - hilarious, actually!  And when I seemed lost or my eyes couldn't read the chalkboard anymore, he always handled the situation with sensitivity and discretion - very important things to a middle schooler.   From my family to his family including Sheila Sullivan (an old friend of our's), we would like to express our deepest sympathies.

Mr. Buralli was my advisor, mentor, and friend. He gave me honest criticisms which I never told him how much I appreciated. Doing plays with him was a treat. He made my hair and makeup look great (or awful depending on the part). I loved receiving his hand-made photo cards. My condolences to his family and friends. He will truly be missed.

I worked with Bil as the 7th grade teacher from 1985 until he stopped subbing during the past year. When I interviewed at the Latin School I watched him teach a class on that day. I still remember it well. After he retired from full time teaching I always called him first if I needed a substitute teacher. I will continue to think of him every time I need a substitute.

Mr. Buralli was an amazing teacher with a great sense of humor.  He was a compassionate man who will truly be missed!

Bil Buralli!  What a great guy!  Everyone thought the world of him and with great reason.
He was one of those who interviewed me in 1980 when I applied at The Latin School.  He was the 5th grade math teacher and I wanted the position of 4th grade math teacher.
He made working there so much fun.  He was helpful and always jovial and kind.  I missed him after he retired because he was so active in the Upper School performances.  We kept in touch through email and I heard of his much loved children and grandchildren.  They were the light of his life.
   He led such a full and generous life.  All who knew him were truly blessed.

Mr B was such a creative soul and patient and loving and kind.  His presence in the classroom, on the stage, back stage and in this world will be missed.  My love and thoughts to his family.

I can not begin to express all the great memories I have of Mr. Buralli.  He was by far one of my favorite teachers at Latin.  He not only was a great math teacher but a kind and loving soul that was so wonderful to be around.  Later when I was in high school I had the honor of performing with him in "Guys and Dolls". What a kick it was to have a teacher perform with us. :) I will never forget him and am truly thankful to have had his influence in my life. Gone from our sight but not from our hearts. RIP!!!

Mr. Buralli was an outstanding teacher and role model. Our Lewis-Champlin class will always remember his creative and unique teaching ability. He set a standard for me during my teaching career and I will always remember his love for children of all abilities. He made us feel there was nothing we could not accomplish.WE thank God for his presence in our young lives and for giving us those untangible but profound experiences we will carry forever.

Mr. Buralli used to tell me back in 5th grade at Marquette School. "You know Richard, they named a star after your great, great, grandfather Alpha Centauri." He was a good teacher, and a fun teacher.

Mr. Buralli was the single most important and meaningful teacher to me during my 14 years at Latin. As both a teacher and adviser, his patience, kindness, honesty, and confidence in me were crucial towards my development as a student and a person. I will always remain grateful to him for helping me become who I am today.

Bil was a good friend for years, long after I left for California and stopped being his voice teacher at Latin School. He emailed pictures of his grandkids, and told me about his auditions and the shows he was in. We sang together in Phil Carey's Student-Faculty Chorale and a couple of months ago, he gave me all his music, "so his kids wouldn't have to deal with it," he said. He was a friend and mentor to his students, and they loved him for it.  I'm going to miss Bil a lot.  My condolences to his family - he was so proud of all of you.

I am very sorry to hear of your loss. Looking to God and the Bible can be a real source of comfort and hope.

I will miss Bil's loving and gentle nature.  His face radiated with love when he spoke of his grandchildren.  How proud he was of all his children and his family.  Hundreds of Latin students were the beneficiary of his masterful teaching in math class and the theatre. Bil was a caring and cherished colleague and friend.  I will miss him deeply.

To Bil's family...I was so saddened to hear about Bil's death.  I literally had thought of him the other day. So many wonderful memories of him during my time at Latin, especially singing with him in the Student-Faculty Chorale and acting along side of him in the Upper School theater productions.  He was a wonderful friend.

Without exaggeration, Bil was probably the nicest person on Earth.  He's certainly the nicest man I've ever met.  I expect he will forever retain the title.  He was real.  He was grounded.  He was human.  He was bursting at the seams with love and not afraid to show it. I learned a number of important things from Bil.  The very first time I met him he convinced me, "Don't sweat the small stuff, (and its all small stuff)".  He knew what was important in life.  He was very big on people and relationships and family.  When I married his daughter, he just reached his big ole teddy bear arms out a bit further and embraced my whole family.  He made a real connection with my parents and siblings and nieces and nephews, never mind that he lived 700 miles away.   I never knew people could be as genuinely kind and thoughtful as Bil.  Ole Dawg, you will be deeply missed, but never forgotten.

I just wanted to add that he was a wonderful teacher and person, and I'll never forget his 6th grade math class.  He really made a difference in many lives.

I worked with Bil for well over twenty years. He never failed to bring a smile to my face,  Even as he fought his illness he always had a story to tell that would brighten my day. Bil always asked about my family and then follow up stories of his.  He loved all of his children very much. I know he continues to be present in your memories and hearts.  My thought are with all of you. Please know how much we all cared for him at Latin.

Even though I went to Latin, I never had a class with Mr. Buralli.  However, because he lived around the corner, I would see him in the neighborhood.  He became a friend and a mentor.  One of things that seperated him from many of the other teachers at Latin was he showed a respect for his students beyond their years.  

I hadn't seen him for over fifteen years but ran into him a few years back.  We traded stories and it was as if I was sixteen again.  

I will miss him.

Bil had a heart of gold.  Never forgot a special occasion and always sent a special handmade card.  For every occasion there was a book arriving in the mail for the kids.  They looked forward to seeing what he picked out for them to read.  Nicky will always cherish the photos he has sharing a good time with Bil.

Bil was my hero. He showed me how to live and fight and laugh through the battles of life.  I will miss him. 

I never met his children or grandchildren, but I feel like I know them through all of the stories and photos he shared. He was so proud of his family and loved them deeply.
