Dana Patricia “Patsy” Jones, a devoted wife, loving mother, grammy, pittypat, and faithful servant of the Lord, passed away on April 14, 2026. She leaves behind a legacy of love, kindness, and a deep, unwavering faith that guided her throughout her life.
Patsy was raised in Childersburg, Alabama, where she graduated from Childersburg High School with the Class of 1971. She went on to attend the University of Alabama at Birmingham, earning her Bachelor’s degree and Master’s degree in Early Childhood Education. She truly believed teaching was her calling, and she used the gifts God gave her to make a difference in the lives of others.
She dedicated over 25 years to teaching with Talladega City Schools as a kindergarten teacher, where she touched countless young lives. Patsy had a special way of making every child feel important, loved, and capable. She didn’t just teach lessons; she poured into her students with patience, kindness, and encouragement. She also taught adult education courses at Heart of Georgia Technical College, always wanting to help others grow and succeed.
Life carried Patsy from Childersburg to Talladega, then to Pell City, on to Dublin, Georgia, and eventually back home to Pell City. No matter where she was, she created a place filled with warmth, laughter, and love. She lived her faith daily—not just in what she said, but in how she treated others. She had a gentle spirit, a servant’s heart, and a way of making people feel seen and cared for.
She will be remembered for her strength, her kindness, and the peace she carried through every season of life. She loved deeply, gave freely, and trusted God every step of the way. While we will miss her more than words can say, we find comfort in knowing she is now at peace and home with the Lord.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Grover Jackson Cobb, Sr. (“Jack”) and Caroline Stalnaker Cobb; her brother, Jeffrey Lee Cobb; and her grandparents, Carey Lee Stalnaker, Lula Dana Stalnaker, and Bessie Cobb Smith.
She is survived by her beloved husband of 31 years, Don Jones; her son, Josh Willis (Audrey); her stepsons, Chad Jones and Shea Jones (Allison); and her cherished grandchildren, Lily Willis, Bonnie Willis, Bevyn Jones, Sawyer Jones, and Skyler Jones.
She is also survived by her sister, Pam Meade; her brother, Jay Cobb (Teresa); and a host of special nieces and nephews.
Patsy’s life was a true reflection of love and faith. Her impact will live on in her family, her students, and everyone who had the blessing of knowing her.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, April 22, 2026, from 11:00 a.m. until the service at 12:00 p.m. at Curtis & Son Funeral Home in Childersburg Al. Gerald Bittle will officiate. Burial will follow at Green Hill Memorial Gardens in Childersburg Al.
