Kevin Franklin Hurst, age 41, of Childersburg, died April 5, 2011 at UAB Hospital. He enjoyed coaching baseball, participating in activities with his children, and loved spending time with his family and friends. He was a member of the US Coast Guard, having spent 4 years active and 2 years in the reserves. He was previously employed by American Color Graphics, and was currently employed by TX Nippon Oil and Energy where he was production manager. Kevin surrounded himself with family and friends, whom he loved so much. He will be greatly missed. Kevin is preceded in death by his father, Carrol Hurst and brother, Keith Hurst. He is survived by his wife, Amanda Hurst of Childersburg; sons, Connor Hurst of Sylacauga and Cade Hurst of Sylacauga; a daughter, Abby Hurst of Sylacauga; step sons, Drew Morgan and Brett Smith of Childersburg; sisters, Kim Warren (Royce) of Childersburg and Tammy Machen of Sylacauga; mother, Althea Chandler of Millerville, AL; and step father Virgil Chandler, also of Millerville. Visitation was held Wendesday evening from 5:30 until 8:00 p.m. at Curtis and Son Childersburg Chapel. Funeral Service will be Thursday, April 7, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. at Childersburg First United Methodist Church with the Reverends Ralph Barrows and James Long officiating. Burial will follow at Marvins Chapel Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be Steve Patterson, Dewayne Wills, Rob Epperson, Glen Meherg, Lee Rozelle, and Doug Warren. Honorary pallbearers will be Trey Cobb, Jason Edwards, David Good, Scott Smith, Harold Smith, Paul Smith, Jody Wain and Chad Joiner.
