Melinda Kay Blankenship - Childersburg - Funeral service for Melinda Kay Blankenship, 56, of Childersburg will be Wednesday, November 7, 2012, at 2:00 p.m. at Curtis and Son Childersburg Chapel with the Rev. George Wood officiating. Burial will be in the Fayetteville Cemetery. Mrs. Blankenship passed away Monday, November 5, 2012 at her residence. She was retired with the City of Childersburg as a police officer with 25 years of service. She was a native of Childersburg. She is survived by her sons, Shelby Lytton of Childersburg, Jerry Blankenship of Sylacauga; daughter, Stephanie Tay Hayes (Corey) of Sylacauga; (7) Grandchildren; brothers Joey Vanzant (Rhonda) of Fayetteville; Jimmy Vanzant of Sylacauga; Sisters, Christy Morris of Sylacauga; Cindy Wideman of Childersburg; Tina Smith of Wilsonville; Sandy Bryant of Douglasville, Ga. Pallbearers are Jeff Burton, Ron Pennington, Chandler Blankenship, Lucus Sims, Scott Fitzsimmons, Jason Blankenship.Visitation will be Tuesday, November 6, 2012, from 5-8 p.m. at the Childersburg Chapel.
