Mr. Sidney David Browning

CHILDERSBURG—Funeral service for Sidney “David” Browning, age 54, was held at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, July 25, 2010 at Curtis and Son Childersburg Chapel with the Reverend David Houston and Reverend Larry Craig officiating. Burial was in Greenhill Memorial Gardens. David went to be with our Lord on July 23, 2010. He was a 1974 graduate of Childersburg High School where he enjoyed playing football for the Childersburg Tigers. David served in the United States Navy from 1976 to 1980 on the USS Coral Sea. He retired from the Bureau of Prisons F.C.I. Talladega after 25 years. David loved attending Vandiver Church of God where he was a member. His favorite hobbies were hunting and fishing.

He was preceded in death by a son, Sid Browning and his father, Sidney L. Browning.

He is survived by his loving wife of 28 years, Sandra Diane Browning; sons, Cody Browning of Childersburg, Daniel Nixon (Kacy) of California, Ray Franklin (Jody) of Childersburg; daughters, Cheri Nixon Cooper and Cheryl Machen (Wesley) both of Childersburg; mother, Jewel Dean Browning of Childersburg; one sister, and eight grandchildren. Pall bearers were Ron Brummett, Wade Houston, Jack Morris, Steve Morris, Danny Pardue, and Tom Strickland.
