

It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Albert Edward Key, October 8th 2021. Alberta was born in the little prairie town of Arelee, Saskatchewan on December 23rd, 1935. In 1945 the family came to B.C. and settled in Agassiz.
While attending high school Albert worked at the local newspaper, The Advance, and apprenticed under the direction of Wm. Daubney. In 1955 Albert was one of two chosen from B.C. to take Reserve Officer Training in Eastern Canada. The training received during that time served him well for the rest of his life. Later he was employed by Mitchell Press in Vancouver until the lithographers were involved in a strike which was never settled. This led to a change in career and he became involved in logging and construction in various parts of B.C. In 2000 he retired for a short time. He was called out of retirement to preform heavy equipment training and certification for the equipment operators at Highland Valley Copper Mine. He continued this training and certification for several years.
Albert was a member of the Agassiz-Harrison Lions Club for a number of years and served the various positions until work away from made this difficult. For the past few years he enjoyed floor curling at Friendship House.
Albert is survived by his loving wife, Barbara of 62 years. Son Fred(Lynne), Abbotsford; Daughter Catherine(Anthony) Smith, Carnation, Wa; Son Robert Chilliwack; Son Bruce(Deb) Agassiz; Son Raymond Trenholm, Kamloops. He was a proud grandfather to six grandchildren, Megan, Lauren, Roderick, Tiana, Dakota and Montana and three great grandchildren, Vienna, Austin and Bennett.
Albert is also survived by his sister Muriel (Mike) Fedorkew, Sister-in-laws Doreen and Letty.
He was predeceased by parents Fred and Agnes Key. Brothers Bryce and Stewart. Sister Ellen and Nephew Robin Johnson.
A memorial will be held at a later date in November at Agassiz United Church.
