

Arthur Glenn Goertz was born in Filmore, Sask. on June 6, 1931.
His birth mother was not able to raise William Harvey Bridge and he was adopted at the age of two.
He enjoyed growing up in Hodgeville,Sask, helping his parents Peter & Susan Goertz, who ran the local general store. Surrounded by many cousins, aunts & uncles, as an only child he had many playmates and companions.
In 1944 the family moved to Vancouver and then to a small hobby farm in Langley BC. Art’s father Peter passed away in 1954.
Art met the love of his life. Lois Kellon in Regina when he was visiting family and friends.
They married on June 9, 1956 and moved to Cloverdale, BC. where they built a home and added two daughters, Sandra and Debbie to the family.
Over the next few years Art worked in the parts departments of several local GM dealerships Then in 1964, he became Parts Manager for Reed-Buchanan Motors in Chilliwack. BC. That same year, Sherry was born.
Art was a faithful employee for the local GM Dealer for 28 years. Travelling with Lois to many countries and interesting locations, Jamacia, Bermuda, Switzerland, England & Germany to name a few.
Both Art & Lois became involved in the local church, where many lifelong friendships developed. He enjoyed spending time with his family, skiing, playing hockey and all manner of sports.
After his mother Susan passed away, Art found his birth family. His mother Mary’s family welcomed him with open arms, even though she had passed away. Lois & Art attended many Bridge family reunions and introduced his own family to the newly discovered relatives.
Retiring from Mertin GM, Art continued to work as a painter, church custodian and finally retired from his position at the Garden Villa at the age of 89.
The Goertz family expanded with his daughters marrying and adding 8 grandchildren. Sherry & Ron Niezen, Joshua, Alisha, Jillian, Aaron and Jenna. Debbie & Frank Kragh, Sarah, Tyler and Jordan.
As the grandchildren married the family grew some more; Joshua Niezen – McKayla & Mannix, Tyler & Joy Kragh- James, Evelyn, & Harvey, Jordan & Haley Kragh – Wilder & Rosen, Jenna & Riley Tolsma - Jaxon, Jane & Thomas, and Sarah & Kyle Barwich.
Art will be remembered as a wonderful husband (67 years), great father, grandfather (Papa), great grandfather and friend.
A graveside service for Arthur will be held Friday, November 24, 2023 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Vedder View Gardens, 44675 Watson Road, Chilliwack, BC V2R2Y6.
