Barbara Ann Lawson

Mom/Ganny/Grannie passed away peacefully on Friday January 27th, 2023 at the age of 91. She had a bad fall in November (broken collarbone and fractured pelvis). The fall eventually resulted in pneumonia and death.

Mom was predeceased by her loving husband Jack, her eldest daughter Susan, and special pet friend Champ.

She will be greatly missed by daughter Wendy, grandchildren: Shawna, Aaron (Alyce), Heather (Robyn), Amanda(Jason), Jaclyn(Rick) great grandchildren: Hudson, Deckard, Marshall, Mackenzie, Matthew, Gabriel, Alora.

Mom will also be missed by her friend and travelling companion Gloria Adams, Shawna’s best friend Delaney Bergstrom, Wendy’s best friends Cheryl Ross, and Cathy Giles.

Mom spent most of her working life as a secretary/accountant beginning at Woodwards‘ Department Store office, Vancouver General Hospital Blood Bank office, Dr. Tennant optometry office, Mark Singer Gift Store office, and Mack Kirk Roofing office. Up to and including the week before her passing she was diligent about checking her bank balances to the penny and would spend hours trying to find the mistake if she couldn’t reconcile it. She also helped Wendy lovingly raise Shawna and was very proud of all Shawna’s accomplishments. Mom was not only the best mom to Wendy but also her best friend. She will be sorely missed!

Mom enjoyed doing needlepoint, cross stitch, and plastic canvas in her spare time. Wendy’s classroom always had seasonal displays made by her mom that were admired by many. Several years she made 40 Halloween and Christmas baskets one for each child in the two K classes.

As per mom’s request there will be no service. There will be a celebration of life this summer hosted by Wendy and Shawna in our back yard. Mom spent a lot of time and money on making the yard perfect. She spent many happy hours sitting in the sun enjoying her surroundings. Date and time will be posted on Wendy’s Facebook page.
