

Carol Bobroske (nee Solie) passed away peacefully surrounded by loving members of her family on June 26th, in Chilliwack General Hospital in her 94th year. She was born in Frances, Saskatchewan on December 28, 1923. Carol is survived by her four daughters, Sylvia Csikos (Louis), Glenda Standeven (Rick), Lorrie Bobroske (Marcus Charlemagne), Corrine Bobroske, and nine grandchildren, Ryan Prosser (Nicole), Amber Prosser, Megan Gillanders, Kevin Standeven (Kimberly); Leah Gillanders (Jason Harvey), Andrew Standeven (Alyssa Cowles); Nathan Bobroske, Faydra Bobroske, Lateesha Bobroske, and three great grandchildren, Heidi Gillanders, Cheyenne Gillanders, and Elise Standeven.
Carol is also survived by her siblings, Marie Gravelle, Joe (Rita), Ralph (Terri), Peter (Jean), Ed (Stella), Geraldine (Jim) Dornstauder and Gerald (Maryanne) Solie and her sister-in-law Loretta Solie.
She was predeceased by her parents, Adam and Pauline Solie; her loving husband of 49 years, Bernard Bobroske in March, 1993; her two sons, Sylvan and James (Jim) Bobroske; sisters and brother's -in-law Beatrice (Tony) Vogt, Clementina (Reg) Genz; brother and sister-in-law Leo (Lena) Solie; brother-in-law Hank Gravelle; and brother Al Solie.
A viewing and brief eulogy will begin at 10:30am followed by a funeral mass at Saint Mary's Catholic Church,8909 Mary St. Chilliwack on Friday, July 7, at 11:00am. All of Carol's grandchildren will be pallbearers. A graveside service will be held immediately following the mass at the Chilliwack Cemetery on Little Mountain,10010 Hillcrest Dr. Chilliwack for those who wish to attend followed by a Celebration of Life Luncheon at 1:00pm at St. Mary's Hall.
Carol was active in her community working with the disabled and elderly. She had been a member of the CWL, Yarrow Ratepayers Association, The Optimist Club, as well as a softball coach for many years while raising her family of five in Yarrow. Carol was also a member of the Wednesday Card Club and won many games of cribbage. She enjoyed cooking for her family and especially loved entertaining company at Sunday dinner parties. She was known to be an excellent dancer, an avid gardener, coin collector and travelled extensively with her husband. Following a major heart attack in 1995, Carol sold her home in Yarrow and, in 1997, she moved to Chilliwack to be closer to her children and grandchildren who were the joy of her life. She adored each and every one of them.
