It is with profound sadness we share the passing of our family matriarch. Beloved wife, Mom, Gramma and friend, Carolyn Dale Gratton (Sanford) passed away at Agassiz Seniors Community on August 6, 2023, at the age of 77 years young. Dale was born on November 11, 1945 to Gordon Allan and Mildred Hazel Sanford (Williams) in Montreal, Quebec, the oldest of four sisters.
In June 1965 she married Jacques Gratton, the love of her life and they embarked on a lifetime of love, joyfully married for 58 years. A beautifully mutual love, rare indeed.
Predeceased by her parents and her sister, Susan Margaret Sanford, she leaves to mourn her adoring husband Jacques, loving daughter Sue-Lynda Bate (Howard) and cherished grand-daughters Ella Madeleine Bate and Mayah Carolyn Bate, and sisters Barbara Eileen Watt and Cheryl Linn Sanford.
Dale will be remembered as a warm, compassionate soul who was liked by all that met her. She was the salt of the earth kind. Some would say her hobby was her hubby, whom she followed across Canada through his 30-year military career. She took exquisite care of the hearts in our small but mighty family.
In later years, she loved to travel every chance she could with our gang of six, to Hawaii many times over, as well as many amusement parks in California and Florida.
She is desperately missed and will forever be remembered as the glue that made us who we are. Loved and missed beyond words. If there is a God, please let her in.
A gathering to celebrate her life will be held at a later date.
