She was born in Chilliwack on June 23, 1947. The following year Cherrie and her family moved to Osoyoos, British Columbia where she spent many wonderful years growing up in her home on the lake. Osoyoos was a very special place for Cherrie that was filled with friends and generations of family memories that were still being created right up until her passing.
Although she didn’t know it at the time, Cherrie met her future husband Bill when they were children. After years of friendship, family connections, and Bill’s persistence, they were married in 1968 in Osoyoos. They returned to Chilliwack soon after being married, with Cherrie spending many years helping and supporting Bill in his radio career. Cherrie also worked as a dental assistant in both Osoyoos and Chilliwack until family became her full-time commitment. Along her life’s journey she made many valued friends through her involvement in Sorority, the YMCA, and Tai Chi.
She will be lovingly remembered by Bill, their daughter Charlene and son Brian (Joldie), 4 grandchildren (Miranda, Carson, Jake and Macy); along with many extended family members and friends.
Cherrie was predeceased by her parents Howard and Marjorie Compeau, brother Robert (Bob) Compeau, son Kevin, and daughter-in-law Leanne.
A Celebration of Cherrie’s Life will be held on Saturday, June 6th at 2:00 p.m. at the Chilliwack Curling and Community Centre.
