It is with heavy hearts and profound gratitude for the blessing of having her in our lives, that we share that our dear “Dar” passed away on December 15, 2025.
Born and raised in Calgary, Alberta, Darlene moved to BC at the age of 18, eventually becoming a cornerstone of the Chilliwack community. She lived a life defined by grace, ambition and an unwavering love of people.
Darlene was a prominent and highly successful Realtor with REMAX Nyda Realty in Chilliwack for over 35 years. Her dedication to her clients and the industry was recognized by RE/MAX International with a Lifetime Achievement Award, a reflection of a career built on integrity and genuine care. To her, real estate was never just about the property, it was about the people. She spent decades building a career defined by integrity, guiding families through their biggest milestones with a steady hand and a caring heart. Her professional success was a direct reflection of her ability to turn many clients into a lifelong friends.
An avid golfer, Dar was a fixture at the Chilliwack Golf Club where she was a member for 30 years. Her competitive spirit and infectious laugh were staples on the green. A truly gifted golfer, she achieved the dream of every player- a hole-in-one - and her talent was immortalized as one time Ladies Champion and a winner of the Ladies Amateur Low Net. Whether she was competing for a title or enjoying a casual round, Dar found true joy in the game and the deep friendships forged at the course.
Known as the “heartbeat of her friend group, Darlene’s kindness and love of music created a melody of friendship that will forever play on in the hearts of all who knew her, especially within the hearts of her loving “Village” of friends. Darlene was sweet, funny, caring and fiercely loyal. She understood that life, like a great song, is best shared with others and her presence was a melody that brought everyone together in harmony. “Where words fail, music speaks. Where life ends, the song of a beautiful soul play on.”
Darlene is survived, by her brother Richard Bumphrey (Cheryl); nephew Kevin Bumphrey (Oscar & Isla); niece Kelly Laird ( Ben, Ari & Elliott) and her cherished best friend Wendy Flodstrom. She also leaves behind a symphony of friendships that will span generations.
A gathering to honour Darlene’s extraordinary life will be held on Thursday, April 2, 2026 at the Chilliwack Golf Club (Pavillion) from 2:00 pm-5:00 pm.
The formal portion of the service will begin at 2:15 pm. Friends are invited to share a memory or a song that reminds them of her beautiful spirit.
