David Louis Southgate

It is with great sadness and sorrow that we announce the sudden passing of David Southgate on February 16, 2025. David was born on January 14, 1983, in Prince George, British Columbia to Jock (Robert) & Pauline Southgate.

David spent his childhood in Fort St. John and later moved to Chilliwack B.C, where he would spend the remainder of his life. David was passionate about life and put his dedication into everything he set his mind to. He grew to be the best at an array of things he loved to do. David enjoyed the outdoors, hockey, golf, a passion for learning and mechanics.

David was predeceased three months ago by his father Robert (Jock) Southgate. Survived by and dearly missed by his mom Pauline, and siblings Rachael (Brock) and Stephanie (Scott). He had four adoring nieces and nephews: Ashton, Maverick, Stevie, and Viola. All his friends, extended family members and his two cats Jake & Oscar.

David was the light after his dad passed away. He helped guide his mom through the devastating loss. David was with her by her side every day and was there to support her. The loss of David has been unimaginable and beyond devastating. He was everything you would ask for in a son, brother and friend.

Pauline & family would like to invite you to join us to say goodbye and celebrate David Southgate. Take in one or both celebrations: Traditional Catholic Funeral Mass at St. Mary’s Church (8909 Mary St, Chilliwack, BC) Friday, February 28th at 11am. Following with a celebration at The Coast Hotel (45920 First Ave Chilliwack, BC) Friday, February 28th at 1230pm.
