Mom left this world to join her Mother and Father Irene & Ray Cooper. Leaving to mourn her is her devoted, loving husband of 56 years Darrell, three loving children Cheryl (Aaron), Brenda (Clayton) and Michael (Angie); four grandchildren, Brenton (Isabelle), Meagan, Larisa and Brandon; three great grandchildren Logan, Carter and Mila.
Mom was an only child and dreamed of having a large family. While she didn’t have a large biological family, she always made every friend that visited feel like family. There was always an extra potato for the pot or a piece of meat no matter what the circumstances of the day were.
Living in many communities in BC as a result of being married to an RCMP officer, Mom always made the best of every situation and us kids knew when a “special meal” was prepared we were on the move again. Mom was very happy when we were able to plant roots in Agassiz in 1983. Doreen managed the Pharmasave in Hope for many years and enjoyed weekend get-a-ways with Darrell to Manning Park and other local campsites. In 2013 Mom was recognized by the RCMP with the “2nd Man” Commendation. This was for her commitment and dedication for the many years of assisting Dad at the smaller RCMP detachments that we lived in.
After retirement Mom and Dad spent their summers traveling in their RV and spent a good portion in 100 Mile House where they became summer work campers. During these years they met a great many people who became, and remain, very close friends to this day.
Doreen loved her family and being close with them. She enjoyed the outdoors, camping, “happy hour” with friends around a campfire.
A very special thanks to the doctors & nursing staff at the Cascade Hospice for their loving care, making Mom comfortable during her last days.
If friends so desire, please give a donation to the Heart & Stroke Foundation or Cascade Hospice in Chilliwack.
When times allow, a memorial service for Mom will be announced.
