

In her family Edith is survived by her sister Elfrieda and Dick Koegel; her brother Henry and Donna Neufeld; her son Terrance and Carol Veer; her daughter Glenda and Kevin Campbell; her grandchildren Joanne and Garth Hewitt; David and Karen Hoppe; Frank Hoppe; Kyle and Jocelyn Veer; Katelyn and Landon Royer; Matthew Campbell, Dan Campbell and Joe Campbell, as well as 6 great grandchildren and 3 step great grandchilden.
She is predeceased by her parents; her two brothers Harold and Albert Neufeld; sister and brother-in-law Adina and Paul Rostek; sister-in-law Jean Neufeld and her son’s Gary and Murray Neufeld; husband Bill Veer; daughter and son-in-law Judy and Frank Hoppe; and daughter Jackie Meints.
Edith’s parents immigrated to Canada from Russia in 1925, they went to Waldiem Saskatchewan and later bought a farm in Hepburn Saskatchewan.
Edith had two older sisters Adina and Elfreida; two older brothers Harold and Albert and one younger brother Henry. Every one was expected to help out on the farm so Edith grew up attending to her chores and eventually she quit high school at grade 10 to help full time.
She was baptized and became a member of the Hepburn Mennonite Brethren church and later attended Bethany Bible School for one year.
Edith met Bill Veer through Hepburn MB church in her teenage years and was married in the church to Bill on August 18, 1950 at the age of 19.
Edith had 4 children; Judy was born August 23, 1951; Jackie on September 9, 1953; Terrance on October 20, 1957; and Glenda on October 29, 1966.
Edith’s dad was diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease and was eventually hospitalized and in 1963 Edith’s mother had a stroke and died very unexpectedly. Edith’s father would pass away in 1966.
Edith’s husband Bill found a teaching job at AD Rundle middle school in Chilliwack BC and the family moved to Chilliwack in the summer of 1970, where they would spend many happy years seeing their family grow.
Bill would pass away on December 5, 2009 due to complications from heart surgery. Edith’s oldest daughter Judy would be diagnosed with cancer and would pass away on June 4, 2011. This would be followed about a year later with Judy’s husband Frank also being diagnosed with cancer and passing away on November 25, 2012.
Edith’s age began to show in her loss of strength and mobility and she made the move into the Lynnwood retirement home in the fall of 2015.
Edith’s second oldest daughter Jackie suffered from mental illness and had become estranged from the family, Jackie would pass away unexpectedly on December 25, 2018.
Edith was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer in April, it was too advanced for treatment and was terminal, she was moved almost immediately to the cascades hospice where she succumbed after 2 weeks and passed away on April 25, 2019.
Edith was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother and a friend to many in her church and her community. She will be missed.
