Betty was born in Drogeham, The Netherlands on April 30, 1939. The oldest of seven children. At the age of nine, she with her family immigrated to Canada. They started in the Edmonton area and later moved to Athens, Ontario where she met the love of her life Wietse Terpstra
They married on April 30, 1960 and after the birth of their first three children, they pulled up stakes and moved to BC to start farming. With the addition of a fourth child, their family was complete.
Betty was by his side farming until 2000, when he semi-retired. They enjoyed many years together travelling and spending time with their children and grandchildren.
Wietse and Betty were blessed with 45 years of marriage. After Wietse passed away in 2005, Betty filled her days with family, volunteer work, tending her beautiful gardens and traveling with close friends.
It is evident to all who knew her that her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren were the loves of her life. She had great pleasure watching them learn and grow and continued welcoming each new little one with so much joy.
Betty will be lovingly remembered for her unwavering trust in her faithful Savior Jesus Christ which she genuinely shared in word and deed with her family near and far. She cared deeply for others which was apparent by the kind and thoughtful things she did for those God placed upon her heart.
Betty received and gave joy in volunteering. She served on church committees, at Chilliwack/Unity Christian School, Friendship Ministries and helped co-found the Bibles For Missions Thrift Store.
