Ernie was predeceased by his parents Bert and Elsie, brothers Teddy, Bobby, Cliff and Al and recently his sister Irene.
Ernie is survived by his loving wife of 56 years Lesley. Proud father to Wade ( Diane) and Cheryl (Ron) and grandson Colin ( Chloe) and many nieces and nephews, in-laws and good friends.
Born in New Westminster and raised in Walnut Grove until moving to Hammond in grade school. Ernie worked cattle driving in Cache Creek and Kamloops in the early 1960s and then followed his brothers north to work as a trapper and hunting guide. Returning to the lower mainland and more hospitable climates he found his calling and 40 year career as an automotive painter.
Ernie and Lesley raised their family in Maple Ridge. He coached Cheryl's softball team and cheered other sports from the sidelines. Shared his appreciation of old cars and taught Wade automotive and home repairs.
While still working he was an avid fisherman. Once he retired, they moved to Chilliwack, where he decided he didn't need to fish anymore and took up golf. A regular at Kinkora, he always reminded you on the 18th hole, it was your last chance at a hole in one for the day. He also enjoyed traveling and RVing.
