Florence Muriel Babuin

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Florence Muriel Babuin (~nee Senger). “Flo” was a wife, mother, daughter, sister, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend. Flo is dearly loved and missed by all. Flo was born on Aug 9, 1941 and joined her Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ on Dec 28, 2025.

Flo was born in Saskatoon and moved with her family to Rutland in 1942.

She grew up in a large family with 5 sisters and 6 brothers

As a young adult she joined the Air Force and she loved her time there.

She also became a hairdresser when she moved to Trail BC and married her husband Sergio.

With their 3 children, Flo and Sergio moved to Chilliwack in 1971. They raised their family on Portage Ave until they moved to Strathcona Rd in 1983 where Flo delighted in the beautiful gardens there. She happily spent hours planting, weeding and making many trips to Minter Gardens

Flo worked for the city of Chilliwack for a number of years, she was an iceman at the Colosseum and Twin Rinks. She also did a stint with the public works department. She loved her job even though it was grueling at times.

Flo retired at 60 so she could spend more time in her gardens, at the cabin on the river and with her grand kids and family.

She recieved great joy from her time with family and friends and her abundant love for everyone will be greatly missed.

Flo was survived by her husband of 58 years, Sergio Babuin and her 3 children; Cathy LaFontaine, Dina Chambers (Tim), Dean Babuin (Pamela). Flo had 8 grand children,

Grayson Chambers, Redmond Chambers (Ceydie), Ashton Babuin, Carson Chambers (Sierra), Jade LaFontaine (Timothy), Acacia Fehr ~nee Babuin (Josh), Chanel McGregor ~nee Chambers (Connor), Joel Babuin (Carlee), 6 great-grandchildren and her brother-in-law Leo Babuin.

Flo is survived by 5 siblings; Jo Burke (Bill), Ed Senger (Vi), Al Senger (Jean), Lil Smith (Dave), Shirley Ree (Bob).

She was pre deceased by her son in law Rob Chambers as well as her parents; Sylvester and Anna Senger, 6 siblings; Mary Anderson, Frank Senger, Chris Sharpe, Ray Senger, Ken Senger and John Senger as well as her sister-in-law Diana Campbell

A funeral service will be held on Thursday, Jan 8, 2026 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church on 8909 Mary Street, Chilliwack BC, at 11:00am with a reception to follow.
