Beloved husband of Joy Moorman, father of Geoffrey (Amy), and Tammy (Chris) and step father to Lynn, Paul (Grace), Catherine (Joe), Michael and seven grandchildren who were all treasured. Also mourning his loss are his siblings James, Joan and Erle as well as extended family and dear friends and neighbors. He is predeceased by his brother Raymond and sisters Arlene and Alice.
The son of Glen Moorman and Ila Dodman Moorman, he spent the first two years of his life in his mother’s hometown of Lucky Lake, Saskatchewan, before the family relocated to Kelowna, B.C. Gar’s 35 year career with B.C. Hydro as a district manager took him across the province he loved: Dawson Creek, 100 Mile House, Quesnel and finally Hope. A proud member of Rotary, Gar served as president in every community he resided. He also represented B.C. Rotarians at the International Rotary Conference in Washington. Gar was active, together with his wife Joy, in the golf, curling and bridge clubs. He enjoyed hiking, fishing, canoeing, skiing, crossword puzzles, and was an avid reader. Many will recall seeing Gar with his red cap and smile on his daily walks to the library, marsh or Thacker Trail near his home.
The family wishes to thank the doctors and staff at the Fraser Valley Hospice in Hope for such compassionate care of Gar.
A Celebration of Life for Garfield will be held Friday, February 24, 2023 at 1:00 pm at the Hope United Church, 310 Queens St, Hope, BC V0X 1L0 officiated by Jill Last, followed by refreshments. Please join us to celebrate a life well lived.
